Mission
To give every Ghanaian student a clear, honest picture of their exam readiness and the tools to improve it. When students, parents, and teachers can see where a learner stands, effort can focus on the right gaps and uncertainty can turn into confidence.
Vision
A Ghana where no student enters an exam hall unsure whether they are prepared. Where parents are not left guessing until report cards arrive. Where teachers can see which students need support early and intervene while there is still time to change outcomes.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of Ghanaian students sit for BECE and WASSCE. Many of them study hard - but without knowing whether their effort is actually moving them toward readiness. Teachers want to intervene early but cannot track every student individually. Parents want to help but lack visibility into their child's strengths and weaknesses.
The result? Students arrive at exam day uncertain. Teachers are overwhelmed. Parents are anxious. And too many capable students underperform - not because they did not work hard, but because their effort was not directed at the right areas.
Olearna solves this by giving every student a readiness label - On Track, Improving, or At Risk - for each subject, updated in real time as they practise. It is clear enough for a student to act on, rich enough for a teacher to plan around, and simple enough for a parent to follow.
Olearna was built around the way a Ghanaian school already runs. GES year groups, the NaCCA syllabus in junior high, the WAEC syllabus in senior high, the BECE and WASSCE calendar, the teacher's week after a mock, and the mistakes chief examiners keep writing about were all in the design. That is why it is the platform best suited to a student in this system, from JHS 1 through SHS 3, including a resit. Senior high is carried on both the older WAEC syllabus and the current one, kept separate, so a student in school now and a resit candidate still writing the earlier papers each get the syllabus they are actually on. Junior high follows the current NaCCA curriculum, and a BECE resit stays on the BECE. The platform is updated as those syllabuses and exam rules change, so the copy a student opens is the current one, not a frozen pamphlet.
GES runs the schools. NaCCA publishes the curriculum those schools teach, which people also search for as NACCA. WAEC sets and marks BECE and WASSCE, and publishes the calendar and the chief examiner's report. Olearna is independent of all three. We took their rules into the product: the year the student is in, the subject they are registered for, the exam they are actually writing, and the topic a mock just exposed. JHS work stays in JHS. SHS work stays in SHS. A student who is already in school starts in that year: JHS 1, JHS 2, JHS 3, SHS 1, SHS 2, or SHS 3. They do not wait for the exam year, and they do not have to finish a younger year's book before they can practise. An upper-primary pupil who wants a first look at junior high starts on JHS 1 English and Mathematics. That path is primary to JHS. The year pages are JHS 1, JHS 2, JHS 3, SHS 1, SHS 2, and SHS 3.
The part we built the product around is the diagnostic. Five checks ask five different questions, from a first look across subjects down to a single topic. Practice follows the topic that came back weak. Review shows the miss. The readiness label updates. A past-question list, on its own, gives every student the same paper in the same order.
