After a Bad Mock: What to Do in the Next Week
6 min read
The evening of a bad mock is when students either panic-revise everything or hide the script. Both waste the paper you already sat.
The next day, not the next minute
Sleep. Then, with the script, list the questions you missed and the topic each one belongs to. A pile of "maths" is not a list. "Linear equations" and "probability" are a list. Do this for the subject that scared you, not for all nine.
The week
- Two topics from that list, the ones that cost the most marks.
- Questions on those topics. Review each miss the same day.
- At the end of the week, a short set on only those topics. If they hold, the mock did its job. If they do not, you stay. You do not start a new subject to feel busy.
This works for a JHS mock and an SHS mock. The exam pages are BECE and WASSCE. The habit of looking at the miss is on review.
