SHS 1, SHS 2, and SHS 3 are not JHS with harder numbers
Senior high adds electives, a heavier core, and a certificate that lists the subjects you actually sit. A student who treats SHS as "more BECE past questions" revises the wrong paper. The loop is still simple. The subjects are not. SHS on Olearna is carried on both the older WAEC syllabus and the current one, kept apart, so a student in the new curriculum and a resit candidate on the earlier papers are not given each other's work. When that syllabus changes, the platform is updated to match.
What each year is for
A student starts in the year they are already in. SHS 2 does not have to replay all of SHS 1 before they can practise. SHS 3 can start this week, lessons and exam together. Each year has its own page so the work matches the classroom.
SHS 1
Learn the new subjects properly. Core Mathematics and English will not feel like JHS, even when a topic name looks familiar. Check them in the first term. An elective you do not understand in SHS 1 becomes a private problem by SHS 3. The full year is SHS 1.
SHS 2
This is the year people coast, because WASSCE still feels far. Electives split here. Use the year to repair the elective that is already shaky, while the teacher is still teaching it. The full year is SHS 2.
SHS 3
You are still in class, and the exam is WASSCE. Cores and electives both count. Spend the weeks on the registered subject that is At Risk, then on the topics inside it. The full year is SHS 3. The exam page is WASSCE preparation.
How the loop helps an SHS student improve
- The diagnostic stays on your level and your subjects. A Physics student is not handed Integrated Science as a substitute, and Elective Mathematics is not Core Mathematics.
- Each subject gets its own label: On Track, Improving, or At Risk. English can be fine while an elective is not. That is the point of a label per subject.
- Practice follows the weak topic in that subject. Topic drill, then a deeper check if the whole subject is behind.
- Review shows the miss. You see what you chose, the right answer, and the explanation when the question has one. Review and Fix brings those questions back. The label moves when the topic starts to hold, not when you finish a pile of papers.
The detail of that review is on the review page. Junior high has its own page, because the syllabus is different: JHS 1 to JHS 3. The checks themselves are listed on diagnostics.
A week that respects electives
- Pick one core and one elective. Leave the rest for next week.
- Check the weaker of the two if you do not already know the topic.
- Two evenings on that topic. Review the misses before you sleep.
- One timed section at the weekend if you are in SHS 3. SHS 1 can skip the timer and still review.
SHS subject guides are on the subjects page. What each plan includes is on pricing.
Common questions
Is SHS study the same as WASSCE preparation?
WASSCE is the exam at the end of SHS 3. SHS 1 and SHS 2 are when core subjects and electives are learned. Waiting until the final year means revising two years of electives at once. The WASSCE page is for the exam. This page is for the three years.
Does Olearna mix JHS questions into SHS practice?
No. An SHS student is served from the SHS pool for their programme and subjects. Integrated Science is not a stand-in for Physics, Chemistry, or Biology, and Core Mathematics is not Elective Mathematics.
Which SHS subject should be repaired first?
The one marked At Risk that will appear on the WASSCE registration. A core subject that is behind usually comes before an elective you already enjoy. The review of missed questions tells you whether that choice was right.
