How to Review a Wrong Answer So the Mark Comes Back

8 October 20266 min read

Most students check the letter and move on. The letter was never the lesson. The lesson is why the wrong one felt right.

Four small steps

  1. Read the question again, slowly, including the word that changed the meaning. "Not", "except", and "best" do a lot of damage.
  2. Say, in one sentence, why you chose what you chose. If you cannot say it, you guessed, and the next step is the topic, not a speech.
  3. Read the correct answer. If there is an explanation, find the first step you did not take. If there is no explanation, work the question with a classmate or a teacher until the step is clear. Do not invent a reason just to close the book.
  4. Do one fresh question on the same idea before you stop. If that one holds, the review worked. If it does not, you are still on this topic tomorrow.

That is the review Olearna is built to show you after a diagnostic and after practice: the question, your choice, the right answer, and the explanation when we have one. The page that describes it is review. It is the same habit for JHS and SHS.
