Parents: When Extra Classes Help, for JHS and for SHS
Extra classes are everywhere, and they are not all the same purchase. Some teach a room of children the page the teacher prepared. Your child may need a different page.
What you can see without knowing the syllabus
On Track, Improving, or At Risk, per subject. If Mathematics is At Risk and English is On Track, a general "evening class" that spends Monday on English is a poor use of the fee. Ask which subject the class will teach this month. If they cannot say, you are paying for company, which is sometimes fine and sometimes not the problem.
JHS and SHS are different bills
At BECE the aggregate is the six best grades. A weak core subject moves that number. At WASSCE the certificate lists the subjects your child sits, including electives. An elective that is behind is not fixed by more Integrated Science.
You do not have to mark the exercises. You can ask, once a week: which topic was reviewed, and is that subject still the one that needs you? The parent view is described on for parents. The student loop is on JHS and SHS.
