When Pasco Helps, and When to Check the Subject First
6 min read
Pasco is the ordinary name for past questions. The papers are good. The habit of starting at the oldest year and marching forward is how students stay busy and stay weak in the same topic. Use the paper after you know the topic.
An evening that uses pasco properly
- One subject. BECE if you are in JHS 3 or on a BECE resit. WASSCE if you are in SHS or on a WASSCE resit. Not both in one night because both booklets are on the table.
- A check first if you are guessing which topic. The free diagnostic is enough to stop the guessing.
- Questions from that topic, marked by you, before you read the answers.
- A note of what you missed, then the review if you are practising on Olearna.
What a pamphlet cannot see
Every student who buys the same pasco gets the same questions in the same order. The student who is fine at algebra and weak at geometry does not need the same evening as their friend. That is the gap a diagnostic fills. The questions are still the questions. They just stop being the first decision.
BECE and WASSCE both have longer guides: BECE past questions and WASSCE past questions. The hub for both is past questions, and the syllabuses they belong to are on the syllabus page.
