CSSPS Self-Placement 2026: What Unplaced BECE Candidates Can Do
If the 2026 CSSPS run did not give you a school, the next click is the official portal, not a new WhatsApp group. On 7 September 2026 the Ministry of Education said self-placement was open for candidates who were not matched, including many who had grade 9 in English or Mathematics. It also said 3,372 candidates who did not sit would not be placed at that stage and would resit.

The ministry pointed families to regional Ghana Education Service and Ghana TVET Service offices before escalating, and published three call-centre lines: 055 037 7388, 059 952 5926, and 059 844 5898. A Placement Resolution Centre in Accra and regional centres were part of the same briefing. If a line is busy, that is still the list to use. Anyone who asks for a fee to "push your name up the placement" is outside that system.
What self-placement does not do
- It does not change a BECE grade.
- It does not invent a vacancy in a school that is full.
- It does not replace a resit for a candidate who has no result.
Choose a school you can actually attend. Boarding, day, programme, and distance are the practical questions. The portal shows vacancies. A cousin's opinion of a school's reputation does not.
After a place, or while you wait
The students who struggle in SHS 1 are often the ones whose BECE English, Mathematics, or Science was already thin. A place on a list does not repair that. A free diagnostic takes about a quarter of an hour and names the subject label: On Track, Improving, or At Risk. Do that before the first week of SHS, or while a resit date is still months away.
