School Heads After WAEC Results: A Short Operating Note
WAEC gave heads the school login for 2026 WASSCE results, and BECE school lists went out through district directors. The week after that is when parents arrive, withheld cases surface, and the next cohort is already in the building. Treat it as operations, not as a speech night.
This fortnight
- Publish how candidates collect results, in the channels you already use. Repeat the official checker. Do not let a staff WhatsApp status become the result.
- List withheld and cancelled index numbers from WAEC's materials, not from rumour. Point those candidates at irreg.waecgh.org where the council said to go.
- For BECE, know who was unplaced before you advise a parent to "just go and do self-placement". Some children are in the resit group. See self-placement.
- For WASSCE, tell families plainly that the September private series was already registered in August. Guessing otherwise creates a crowd at your office in October.
The next cohort
A school that only celebrates the best aggregate will meet the same weak Core Mathematics next year. Pick two subjects the results keep hurting. Put a diagnostic on them this term for the form below, not in March of the exam year. Olearna's labels are On Track, Improving, and At Risk. A head can ask a head of department which of those three describes the class, and the answer can be checked.
We are not offering a leased pass rate. The school still teaches. The label tells you where the teaching is not landing.
