WASSCE 2026 Results: How to Read Them and What to Do Next

2 October 20268 min read

WAEC released provisional 2026 WASSCE results for school candidates in a statement dated 4 September 2026. Newsrooms carried the release on 5 September. Heads of schools received logins. Candidates can use the council's site. If your friends posted grades before you could log in, wait for your own row.

Find the weak subject before you register a resit

The scale, from WAEC's own release notes

Reporting on the council's statement put the entry at 512,862 candidates from 1,022 schools. The entire results of 861 candidates were cancelled over mobile phones. Subject results of 7,434 candidates were cancelled over foreign material. Candidates from 169 schools were still under investigation for alleged collusion. Separately, 957 subject results and 270 entire results were withheld. Those figures describe the release. They do not describe you until your index number says so.

Withheld candidates were told to use irreg.waecgh.org. Our walkthrough is withheld WAEC results.

Grades and university

WASSCE grades run from A1 to F9. Universities and colleges publish their own cut-offs, and those cut-offs move. A C6 in Core Mathematics is a different problem from an F9, and an F9 in an elective is a different problem from an F9 in Core Mathematics or English. Write the six grades that the programme you want will actually read. Then decide whether you need a resit, a different programme, or a year of repairing one subject.

You probably missed the September private exam

The 2026 WASSCE for private candidates, second series, runs from 4 September to 29 October 2026. Registration closed on 28 August 2026. School results arrived after that deadline. If you only discovered the failed subject when the school results dropped, you were not in that September sitting unless you had already registered. The next realistic window is the following private series, usually January or February. Dates for 2027 were not published on the council site when this was written. Track them on waecgh.org, and read the resit guide before you pay a fixer.

Use the months you actually have

A resit in early 2027 is a short runway. Core Mathematics, English Language, and Integrated Science are the usual blockers. Olearna's diagnostic labels each one On Track, Improving, or At Risk, without an account. The account is what keeps the practice and lets a parent see the same label. We do not invent a class average. The label is the evidence you can check.
