Withheld BECE or WASSCE Results: What Candidates Should Do
Withheld, cancelled, and "still processing" are three different sentences. Mixing them up is how families pay the wrong person.
If you can still study, start with a free diagnostic
What WAEC said in 2026
BECE school, 30 July. Subject results of 2,722 candidates from 229 schools were withheld for scrutiny. Entire results of 105 candidates were cancelled. Subject results of 496 were cancelled. Other results were withheld pending investigation, with WAEC saying a decision could land by 31 August. On 3 September, WAEC said the scrutiny holds had been released, and that a result still missing was tied to continuous-assessment marks.
WASSCE school, 4 September. Candidates with withheld results were asked to open irreg.waecgh.org and use the candidate login. The public statement also described cancellations (phones, foreign material) and schools still under collusion checks. Read the row that matches your index number.
What you can do
- Log in yourself. Keep the index number and the examination year.
- If the page names a suspected offence, follow that page. This article is not a lawyer and not WAEC.
- If the school says continuous assessment was never submitted, the school has to answer that. A resit registration does not fill in a missing school mark.
- Ignore anyone selling a "clearance letter" or a rebuilt result. WAEC releases results. Agents do not.
Study anyway, if the paper is yours to sit again
A withheld subject may come back. It may not. The weeks you spend refreshing the topics are not wasted in either case. Olearna will not tell you the council's decision. It will show whether English, Mathematics, or Science is On Track, Improving, or At Risk, from a diagnostic you can take before the account exists.
